Just a quick note. Nothing as exciting as last years. Neither with the sailing nor our result. This year we didn't see any winds over 10 knots (except for the very end of Saturday). Not our ideal conditions. We had a mid fleet result on the Saturday downwind race and brought the rear of the fleet on Sunday with a mostly upwind race in sub 10 knots conditions. Saturday evening at Vallejo was a good party amongst many friends and the raftup was the biggest I have ever seen with some boats not fitting in and the neighboring marina unavailable due to a shallow entrance.
Rob played with a new camera mount so we should have some footage shortly.

Was sailing on "For Pete's Sake" (one of the Ultimate 24) that weekend and we were very happy that we managed to finally beat you once (just on corrected, but nevertheless). You were clear ahead after the downwind start. Then we lost you out of sight until you came up from behind again and passed us. What happened?
ReplyDeleteWe got swallowed up on the river by the bigger boys coming up behind us. After exiting the river we tried to cross to the other side with the kite up, it worked half way and then a 60 degree shift hit us and I think that was the end of the race. We were committed to the right side for the first half of the race and in under 10 knots we just don't move that well. We had a pretty good recovery the last third of the race. Not our conditions and some bad calls.
